Sail Through Norway’s Fjords On The World’s First Completely Electric Boat

There’s a new way to explore Norway’s jaw-dropping Fjords that won’t require endless hours of exhaustive hiking. But it won’t negatively impact the environment either. It’s ethical travel at its laziest. And we’re here for it.

The ‘Future of the Fjords’ is a zero emissions ship and world-first in environmental travel. It’s the only completely electric water vessel that doesn’t rely on a combustion engine.

The finished boat is expected to be 42 metres long and hold up to 400 passengers. Once finished in April 2018, the catamaran will begin a journey between two fjords, including Nærøyfjord, and continue to take travellers through the western Norway region.

This innovation in water travel doesn’t come as a huge shock, as Norway already leads the world in sustainable travel like electric car usage. The Norwegian Shipowners Association is also well on its way to reaching a goal of zero emissions by the year 2100. And we already know that Norway’s pretty good at conserving its beautiful habitat.
