You’ve Gotta Eat This: Rainbow Bagels

What is it? Someone found another way to eat cake for breakfast – and this time it’s extra colourful. Rainbow Bagels are the newest trend to hit Manhattan, following in the footsteps of freakshakes and 24-karat gold donuts. Only thing is, these guys have been around for almost 20 years – they’re only just now getting the attention they deserve.

Where can you get it? The Bagel Store an NYC haunt for all things bagels. The Bagel Store have even trademarked their ‘Rainbow Bagels’ – and it’s a smart move. These things are pretty damn delicious; they could easily take the path of the cronut and pop up at every cafe worldwide.

What’s in it? Multi-coloured neon dough, basically. Insider made a behind the scenes video on how the bagels are made and it’s mesmerising. No rainbow bagel is complete however, without a schmear of “funfetti” cream cheese (which is basically just cake batter).

Are they good for you? Yeah… nahhh.

How much do they cost? Pretty expensive for a bagel, I guess – $3.95USD (that’s $5.60AUD).
