You’ve Gotta Eat This: Parmaghetti

What is it? It’s a Parmaghetti – a chicken parmigiana serviced on a bed of spaghetti bolognese.

Where can you get it? The Parmaghetti is a well-kept Melbourne secret (until now that is). You can get it at the Albion Hotel in Dandenong in Melbourne’s outer east. While you are there, we can also recommend the “spudarama”.

What’s in it? It’s all in the name, really. Consider it a blend of two of our longest standing Italian-inspired pub meals – the chicken parmigiana and spaghetti bolognese. Let’s break it down: a crumbed chicken schnitzel smeared with tomato salsa then covered in melted cheese, served on top of a very generous serving of meaty spaghetti bolognese.

Is it good for you? Not really. Although surely a side of spag bol is better for you than a side of fries, ammiright?

How much does it cost? $21.50AUD. But the satisfaction of finishing a meal as epic as this…. Priceless.

How did it come about? The chef tells us she was looking for something “outside the box” to serve with her parma.

Chicken parma? Spaghetti bolognese? Why don’t we have both??
