Where can you get it? Kumpir is a specialty in the river-side town of Ortaköy in Istanbul, Turkey. You’ll find these delicacies being sold street-side around Ortaköy’s neighbourhood.

What’s in it? This is like a baked potato on steroids – the traditionalists will add anything from green and black olives, chopped capsicum, onions, scallions, corn, peas, pickles, lentils, carrots, hot-dog slices, couscous, mushrooms, cabbage, tabouleh and more to your spud, the n top it with some fresh condiments, wrap it in aluminium foil and send you on your merry way.

Is it good for you? It’s not your average baked potato – this is one hearty meal that will keep you full for a while.

How much does it cost? Less than 10 lira ($4.60AUD) per spud, depending on toppings, but it’s a pretty cheap meal overall.
