You Can Dine In This Life-Size Edible Gingerbread House

Remember gingerbread houses? Those incredible Christmas-time creations that you either loved or loathed, depending on your ability to stick crumbling cookies together using only frosting. While one could only dream of living in a house made solely of candy and sweets, it’s now a reality for some very special guests at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dove Mountain, Arizona.

So, for real though, how do you fancy spending Christmas inside your very own edible gingerbread house?

Located on the lobby level of Dove Mountain’s lavish hotel is an incredible feat of sugary delight. The building was constructed using real and edible ingredients – it’s made up of over 400 pounds of honey, 856 pounds of sugar, 350 pounds of flour, 100 pounds of ginger powder, 50 pounds of cinnamon, 250 eggs and ten pounds of nutmeg. Hoo boy.

Available for private bookings, guests can dine inside the house which features a six-person table setting and even a working fireplace.

Prices to book out the room start at $250USD ($334AUD) for a lunch seating and $300USD ($401AUD) for dinner. If you want to book it out for the big day, seating on December 24 and 25 starts at $400USD ($535AUD).

Also, sidebar: there’s no explicit rules saying you can’t go all Hansel and Gretel and take a bite out of those edible walls. I mean, if Willy Wonka let his guests lick his edible wallpaper, the Ritz-Carlton will surely let us take a teeny tiny bite, right? Here’s hoping.
