You Can Actually Go For A Dip In Paris’ River Seine This Summer

Paris have really cleaned up its game.

Paris has done a very good job of realising its biggest asset and utilising all its glory. Yes, we’re talking about the sprawling canals of the Seine. To date, the river’s player host to a number of things from hotels and flying taxis. Paris has even made the Seine’s sidewalk pollution free and now, most excitingly, there are dedicated pools so you can take a refreshing dip in it.

We all know that the muddy waters of Paris’ famous canals have never really looked clean enough to justify swimming in them. In fact, a 1923 law has so far prohibited people from doing so. But ever since last year, when the man-made Bassin de la Villette in Paris was completely cleaned up by the city, locals have been embracing the Seine and jumping in.

The city has added three dedicated pools on the side of the Bassin to encourage both tourists and locals to cool off in the summer. The pools will be free for everybody to use.

There’ll be a lap pool, a splash-about relaxation pool and a shallow pool for kids. All completely safe and clean to swim in. It’s an activity we’ve historically never been able to experience.

Sounds pretty cool, right? While you’re there, you may as well take our advice about baguettes, walking tours and accommodation in Paris. We got you.
