If you’re going to stay high in the Swiss Alps, it helps to blend in – so the eco-chic Whitepod Hotel has done the right thing by creating rooms that look just like big white snowballs.
This uber cool alpine lodge is an exclusive eco camp for just 30 guests at great heights in the Swiss Alps – 1700 metres high to be exact. Located right beside the French border of Switzerland, 15 geodesic domes sit on wooden platforms and are strategically placed down a mountain, for easy access aprés-ski.
During winter the pods are covered with white insulated canvas and fitted with a wood burning stove to keep you warm and toasty. They’re also open during the warmer months when the white canvas tops are traded for green camouflage covers, keeping the pod cool and blending in nicely with the surrounding greenery.
Like your own private mountain resort, guests at Whitepod have access to a private mountain with several ski runs, three lifts, two chalets, a restaurant and bar and even a Finnish sauna. Your pod, which can fit up to four people, is like a home away from home and is the perfect respite after hours on the slopes.
The ultimate in luxury and adventure, prices for Whitepod start at around 540CHF ($777AUD) per night.
