Wish You Were Here: Faru Faru Lodge, Tanzania

The plains of East Africa are known as the setting for one of the world’s greatest wildlife spectacles – the wildebeest migration across the Serengeti. Found right in the heart of their migratory route is the Singita Faru Faru Lodge in northern Tanzania, where you can watch upwards of a million animals traverse across the desert right from your own backyard.

Built on a gently sloping hill, the lodge is positioned right above this renowned migratory route. The lodge owners boast that the Faru Faru lodge is a place where “you can quite literally expect the unexpected,” and that’s no lie – you’re likely to spot a variety of wildlife, including cheetahs, black rhinos, Maasai giraffes, lions, elephants, buffalo and even a few rare Colobus monkeys.

A perfectly safe enclave right in the heart of the Serengeti, the lodge offers a variety of accommodation options, varying from one bedroom suites to family suites – there’s even a private infinity pool where you can overlook the lush plains and play eye-spy for some wildlife.

Migration usually depends on weather patterns, so they say the best time to go is between November and March and May through October. Strap on those walking boots and get those binoculars ready, you definitely won’t want to miss this.
