Wish You Were Here: 727 Fuselage Home

Nobody loves sleeping on aeroplanes. Except in Costa Rica! Part of the Costa Verde Hotel, right on the beach a couple of hours of the capital city of San José, is the 727 Fuselage Home. The hotel salvaged a retired vintage 727 plane from San José’s airport and brought it back to the hotel to completely refurbish it, then stick it into the side of a cliff from a rainforest overlooking the sea.

It’s absolutely stunning, and definitely the roomiest you’ll ever be on a plane. With fancy eco-friendly teak fitting from Indonesia, the ‘home’ features features two queen-sized bedrooms each with private bath, a kitchenette with microwave, and an ocean view terrace; a private entrance up a river rock, spiral staircase, and 360 degrees of surrounding gardens. Oh, and your neighbours? No humans, just local sloths, toucans, and monkeys to keep you entertained. Yes. Real live sloths.

If that’s not living the dream, I don’t know what is.
