Spend The Night Inside Giant Wine Barrels In This German Village

A cheeky glass of wine (or two) certainly doesn’t go astray while relaxing on holidays. But if you want to fully immerse yourself in all things vino, there’s only one place to be – Schlafen im Weinfass, in the small village of Sasbachwalden, Germany.

Here, you can sleep inside the giant barrels the region’s wine was once aged in.

There are five barrels to pick from, each kitted out with everything you need for a sound night’s sleep. There’s a comfy bed, a fully functional bathroom, heating and cooling, and a small rock garden patio to greet you at its entrance.

The unique barrel accommodation should be enough to make you want to book, but if you weren’t already sold, the views from inside are guaranteed to make you want to stay forever. From your bed, peer out the windows to uninterrupted views of Rhine Valley, some of Germany’s most beautiful wine country.
