Welcome To The World’s Most Terrifying Swimming Pool

While we all love a good pool with a view – hell, we thrive off it – this particular pool in China might be taking things a little too far.

The Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao has a pretty innocuous looking swimming pool in their 24-storey hotel. Looking at it from the inside, you’d even venture to say it’s kind of boring when you consider there’s a place like this one in Singapore that’s about a thousand times better in terms of view to pool ratio.

But it’s more about what’s underneath the pool that really packs a punch. Check out that glass bottom.

Now that’s what you call swimming in the sky. This nifty architectural overhang gives guests a delirious look down at the sprawling city below while they’re taking their morning dip. Thankfully, the pool’s clear bottom has been constructed using toughened glass, so you’re perfectly safe to try out a few cannonballs.

You may remember a similar architectural marvel being built in London which saw a ten-storey-high sky pool being suspended between two apartments on the south bank of the Thames. Clearly it’s not enough to just have a pool with a cool view anymore – it’s got to be suspended high in the sky. This is definitely not for the faint of heart.
