Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the most exciting and highly anticipated American sporting event of the year and, in its 52nd year, it’s bigger and better than ever.

As the New England Patriots prepare to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, a number of venues around the country are gearing up to screen the match.

Sydney: Bondi Beach Public Bar

Bondi Beach Public Bar will be screening the Super Bowl and dishing out some authentic American eats from 10AM. Think Philly cheesesteak snack packs, chilli fries and New England fish and chips with smoked clam mayo.

They’re also be adding some American beer and wine into the mix for good measure.

Where: Bondi Beach Public Bar, 180 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach

Melbourne: The Penny Black

The Penny Black is throwing the biggest Super Bowl party on Melbourne’s north side, showing the game on big screens, with pre-game entertainment starting from 9am.

Food and drinks are covered, with a kilo of wings for $10, buckets of American beer and more burgers than you could poke a stick at. If you’re heading in with a few mates, make a booking to ensure your spot.

Brisbane: The Normanby Hotel

The Normanby Hotel, Brisbane’s self-proclaimed “best pub”, will be open from 9am on Super Bowl Monday.

If you’re keen, they’re offering a hearty breakfast of hotdogs and hamburgers. Then, settle in and enjoy the game with friends. What a way to start the week.

Adelaide: Event Cinemas Marion

For a change of pace (and somewhere that’s not a bar), Event Cinemas Marion will be showing the game on the big screen, with pre-entertainment starting at 9:30am.

Take a break from burgers, wings and ribs and opt instead for cinema classics like choc-tops and popcorn, all of which are included in your ticket price. Tickets start at $30 and can be booked online.

Where: Event Cinemas Marion, Westfield Marion, 297 Diagonal Road, Oaklands Park

Canberra: The Duxton

In Canberra, The Duxton is the place to be for all the American Football action.

Doors will open at 11:30am and you can get your hands on 1kg of buffalo wings for $15 all day — a good excuse as any to pop in, we say.

Where: The Duxton, 8 Macpherson Street, O’Connor
