Gelato Messina Will Create Glow-In-The-Dark Ice Cream Treats For Vivid Sydney

Vivid Darling Square Blacklight Messina Mini Mushroom

We all love an eye-catching dessert. Who wouldn’t enjoy a Snow Egg given the chance? But Gelato Messina is bringing added pizzazz to their dessert creations when Vivid Sydney rolls around at the Blacklight dessert bar in Darling Square.

The Blacklight: Dessert Lab will be a collaboration between Gelato Messina, DOPA, Edition Coffee Roasters and Bubble Nini. Step into a black cube lit in ultraviolet light to enjoy glowing dessert creations and bubble tea. Who hasn’t ever wanted their desserts to glow like something radioactive?

Messina will offer a single-serve of their recognisable Magic Mushroom cake, a triple-layer dulce de leche gelato cake (renamed Dulce De-Lighted). Serving the specially designed dishes up in darkness lit by blacklight, the desserts will glow bright colours.

Bubble Nini will be slinging their The Sun And Moon, featuring black tea, strawberry pearls and herbal jelly, and It Takes Two To Mango, fruity jasmine tea with coconut jelly and mango pearls.

Edition Coffee Roasters will serve up a gelato sandwich called Miso Hungry, featuring Messina coffee gelato between dark choc cookies with a miso caramel layer, plus a warming mocha. DOPA’s contribution in week three is yet to be confirmed but will surely be as space-age coloured as the rest.

The teams will be on a rotating roster – with Messina creations on site all the way through – as part of Vivid Sydney, from Friday May 24 to Saturday 15 June.
