There’s A New Top Secret Virgin Airport Lounge Hidden Behind Unmarked Doors

Nothing beats an airport lounge and while most of us were confined to our own living rooms through the pandemic, airlines were busy levelling up.

Most recently, Virgin Australia has officially opened their new invitation-only airport lounges in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. Called ‘Beyond Lounges’, these top secret spaces take the airport lounge experience to a new height of exclusivity.

Available to only the most frequent of fliers, access to Beyond Lounges is granted through discreet unmarked doors, the location of which are known only to Beyond members. 

Each lounge boasts an interior of oak and leather walls, high-back Chester-style armchairs, and nestled away “privacy pods” for those who just need that extra bit of seclusion. There are also private offices and board rooms for the business person who can’t resist working, even when they’re travelling.

The rotating dining menus claim to serve the best of seasonal Australian produce. Currently, the menus features braised lamb gnocchi; grilled calamari spaghetti with garlic, chilli, white wine, and Queensland bottarga; halloumi sliders; two superfood salads; and more.

The menu also includes a range of Australian cheeses by cheesemongers such as Milawa Cheese Factory, Berry’s Creek and Cremeux; and an extensive Australian wine list along with a range of spirits, all available at your table or at the in-house bar.

Even the bathrooms are up another level with amenities by Appelles Apothecary Lab and showers available from July 1, 2022.

Each 12-month membership also comes with four complimentary business class upgrades each year, one complimentary Velocity Gold membership, and a plus one complimentary membership for your special someone.

So, how do you get an invite to Virgin Australia’s Beyond Lounges?

Well, not to ruin the party but you have to be personally invited by the CEO. 

According to Virgin Australia Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka, invites to the lounge are reserved for Virgin’s corporate partners, high-status Velocity Frequent Flyer members and “key opinion leaders throughout the country”. 

So we’re sorry to say, if you are not a high-flying Australian opinion leader the Beyond Lounge might not be made available to you any time soon. But if it makes you feel better, memberships are reviewed each year meaning those with a fading influence are pruned from the bunch.

And on the bright side, if you’re really jealous of the Beyond Lounge, at least you’ll never be able to find it next time you travel!
