Sydney, Get Ready To Sip Cocktails 110 Metres Above Darling Harbour In A Hot Air Balloon Bar

There are many places for a cheeky beverage in Sydney‘s Darling Harbour, and most of them are good choices. What they don’t offer you, though, is the chance to have a tipple in a hot air balloon — at least they didn’t until now.

Hendricks Gin is launching the ‘Most Unusual Balloon Bar’: a cocktail experience 110 metres above the harbour, for one day only.

Between 3pm and 9pm on December 5, this most exclusive bar will let the people lucky enough to nab a space grab a free ‘Tini Martini’ from the Hendrick’s Cucumber Bar in Tumbalong Park, before sipping them in an actual hot air balloon. It’s tethered to the ground so you won’t fly away, and it’s socially distanced , because safety first. You’ll also get a hamper of Hendrick’s-themed goodies. Who doesn’t love free stuff?

If you’re not actually keen to go up, you can just have a complimentary drink in a nearby participating venue and watch the balloon from afar. Bars include PS40, Helm Bar, The Barbershop, Café Del Mar, Planar, Prince of York, The Swinging Cat and Champagne Bar, The Sofitel.

Ready for heightened tipple? You can book your place from 9:00am AEDT on Monday, November 30. It’s a first in, best dressed scenario so, you’d better have this page bookmarked.

If you prefer keeping your two feet on the group when you’re drinking (very sensible of you), there are plenty of other bars to check out around Sydney. The best place to start is obviously one of these 20 epic rooftop bars around the city.

If you’d prefer to stay home — and it’s 2020 so literally no-one would blame you — you can still add a little excitement to cocktail hour with, say, an avocado beer (no joke). Or spice up the old G&T with these easy gin cocktail recipes.

The world is your oyster, really.
