Ubud’s Food Festival Is The Most Delicious Thing To Happen To Bali

By now you should probably be aware that Ubud is not only Bali’s cultural and artistic capital, but also a foodie paradise. Next month, this mountainous village will host the second annual Ubud Food Festival, and if last year’s was anything to go by, this is going to be one delicious affair.

Kicking off on May 27, this three-day festival will bring together the region’s most celebrated culinary icons, leading restauranteurs from Bali’s modern food scene, and world class international chefs for a celebration of Indonesian tastes, plates and remarkably creative cuisines.

The Ubud Food Festival will serve up high-energy live cooking demonstrations, in-depth culinary conversations, workshops, food tours, markets, film screenings, yoga and so much more.

This year, UFF will be visited by some rather impressive international chefs, including Asia’s Best Female Chef Margarita Fores, Spanish tapas chef Frank Camorra, head chef of Singapore’s ODETTE restaurant Julien Royer and sustainable fish champion (and Jamie Oliver’s buddy) Bar Van Olphen. They will be joined by the mother of Indonesian cuisine and much-loved TV chef Sisca Soewitomo, Indonesia’s first Michelin-star chef Mandif Warokka and a bunch more.

The festival aims to go beyond the typical food festival fare with talks about the future on sustainable cuisine, the journey from the supplier to the plate and lots more. And of course, there’ll be plenty of opportunities for tastings, so you might want to skip brekkie that morning.
