The Spa Of Your Dreams Has Been Built In Berlin

Berlin’s Liquidrom is a true pioneer in both urban bathing culture and modern day architecture. The spa is a sensory waterworld (sans Kevin Costner) with live music from DJs and musicians every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in its central warm saltwater pool house in a darkened dome awash with a slow light show. Silence is encouraged. To hear the music through the underwater amplifiers, simply float on your back with your ears below the surface level – a pool noodle can help here.
In the evenings moonlight drips in from a skylight to mingle with the underwater music, which ranges from romantic harp and cinematic bass music to minimalist jazz and zen clarinet. So you’re basically bathing in sound, colour and light. Triple whammy.
Once you’re done bathing, why not take one of nine types of sauna (yep, count ’em, nine) or indulge in one of the varieties of massages, including the classic hot stone or aromatic oils and the unusual Balinese herbal ball massage? Who knew relaxation was so diverse?
Liquidrom is open from 10am ’til midnight daily except Fridays and Saturdays when it’s open until 1am, so you can just glide right out and head straight on over to one of Berlin’s amazing nightspots.
On top of this, they offer a light food menu with stuff like salmon bagels; chickpea salad; yogurt with fruit and muesli; and tarte flambe with goat cheese, walnut and pear. It costs about $30 AUD for two hours, but fork out an extra 10 bucks and you can float around all day.
