The Hotel From ‘The Shining’ Is Hosting A Horror Festival

Halloween has just passed and for horror film junkies around the world the wait between screams is too long. Cue this new horror film festival taking place in one of the creepiest locations in the world.

On April 27 2017, the aptly named Overlook Film Festival, will take place Oregon’s Timberline Lodge in Mount Hood. Don’t recognise the name? Located around 90 minutes outside of Portland, the area is home to the hotel that served as the exterior in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining. Recognise it now?

REDRUM, REDRUM!

The nerve-racking hotel and surrounds are playing home to the inaugural four-day horror movie festival. Dubbed “a summer camp for genre fans”, it aims to expanding its focus beyond just screenings into experiential events; the festival showcases exciting new work in new and classic independent horror cinema alongside the latest in interactive and live shows for a fully immersive weekend. Expect opening and closing night parties, panels and discussions, a lounge, and horror-themed games and trivia.

There are a couple of petrifying options for the festival, including the “Caretaker Package” which includes stay at the lodge as well as an all access pass to all of the activities and screenings. There’s also a “Twins Package” which, you guessed it, features twin share options for you and whatever loved one you’re dragging along to this.
