The Gravity Blanket Is Here To De-Stress You While Travelling
We all love a good travel-helper, from comfy pillows to make sleeping on flights easier, to adventure kits that’ll make you feel like Bear Grylls. Now, a new kind of blanket aims to reduce stress and anxiety while you’re out gallivanting around the globe.
Blankets are crucial to enjoying any regular night’s sleep, so when it comes to travelling, they’re more important than ever. It’s easy to feel restless, anxious and stressed while travelling, particularly during long journeys on planes and trains, not to mention hotel rooms or Airbnbs, unfamiliar beds, and of course, that eternally nasty jet lag.
The Gravity Blanket is a brand new “therapeutic blanket”, which aims to take away all of that stress, ensuring a great night sleep no matter where you are. It was crowdfunded via a Kickstarter campaign, to tremendous success – more than $4.7 million has been raised, with almost 24,000 people contributing to the fund.
According to Kickstarter, the weighted blanket “harnesses the power of deep touch stimulation to gently distribute deep pressure across your body.” The weighted blanket also claims to help the “nervous system by simulating the feeling of being held or hugged,” which increases serotonin and melatonin levels among other benefits.
You can purchase the product online now for AU$227, though they’ll only ship from September or October. In the meantime, perhaps this blanket may suffice instead.
