The Grand Canyon Is Covered In Snow

The Grand Canyon has brought in the new year with a total makeover, and boy is she looking beautiful.

A rare storm on New Year’s Eve has dusted the red canyon, coating the entire thing with a 10cm layer of fresh snow not normally seen in the Arizona desert.

While the elevated North and South rims receive small amounts of snow roughly twice a year, the phenomenon of seeing the whole thing covered is a real rarity.

Already the snow has started to melt. The snowy conditions over the previous few days have led to road closures, meaning only a handful of tourists and locals have been able to access the spectacle.

This isn’t the only remarkable natural phenomenon to transform the canyon recently. Just a few weeks back, there was a total cloud inversion where a thick fog completely filled the basin, spilling over the rim which could barely contain it.
