Ride The Jose Cuervo Express Tequila Train Across Mexico
Ahh, tequila. The Mexican spirit that warms our bodies, helps us get our fruit intake (lime slices are a fruit) and leads to some of our most adventurous nights on the town. Ever wanted to know more about the drink? We have the answer right here.
The train travels across the state of Jalisco, from Guadalajara to Tequila, every Saturday and teaches passengers about the origins of the spirit, the distillation process and serves up plenty of taste tests along the way.
Passengers will visit the town of Tequila, the birthplace and namesake of the spirit. The town’s agave fields and distilleries are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There’ll be plenty of time to explore the town, but a full day of activities will also be planned for passengers, like a special Mexican show and an agave harvesting demonstration. There’s also a professional tasting back on board led by a Maestro Tequilero.

The tequila train also stops at the Jose Cuervo distillery just outside of Tequila for a guided tour.
Express, Premium and Premium Plus packages are available, with Express tickets starting at MX$2,100 (AU$152) and Premium Plus tickets getting up to MX$2,500 (AU$181). The tour is the same for all packages, but the carriages get more luxurious and comfy the more you pay.
Premium Plus passengers also get access to the on-board bar serving up tequila, rum, vodka and whiskey (if you want to shake things up a bit) and a tour of the Cuervo family’s private cellar.
