These Secluded Pods In Christchurch Let You Immerse Yourself In New Zealand’s Wilderness
If you were ever looking for a nature getaway, not too many places trump New Zealand. It’s home to the most dramatic and diverse landscapes, from the cascading waterfalls and lush rainforests of Milford Sound to the sprawling vineyards and snow-white peaks of Queenstown.
And if you’re looking to experience New Zealand’s natural charm without sacrificing all of home’s creature comforts, the south island’s Te Wepu Intrepid Pods have you sorted.
You’ll find Te Wepu Intrepid Pods in the coastal town of Akaroa, just over an hour south of Christchurch. These chic, eco-friendly pods exist on a working cattle farm that dates back to 1843, and overlook one of the most serene bays on Canterbury’s magnificent Banks Peninsula.
It’s about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the closest road, but don’t for a second think that the pods’ seclusion compromises luxury. Each pod is kitted out with large beds with luxe linens, solar-powered lighting, wifi and a private wood-fired hot tub to soak up the surrounds in.
While snuggling up inside your pod all day might be tempting, there are loads of bushwalks not far from your front door, so be sure to get out and explore the area.
Rates start at $330 ($350NZD) and can be booked online. And for an extra $95 ($100NZD), staff will deliver a hamper of New Zealand goodies, like locally sourced meats and wine to your door.
