Salt Meats Cheese Is Slinging Gelato Cocktails In Brisbane

Cocktail

Beloved Sydney institution Salt Meats Cheese opened its first Brisbane venue over the weekend, and it’s going all out, serving up all the usual deliciousness alongside cocktails made from gelato.

Yep, you read that right: cocktails made from the greatest dessert ever created (don’t @ me).

The perfect antidote to Queensland’s scorching summer days, the cocktails are made using gelato from La Macelleria in Tenerife. Flavours include a refreshing Bellini Diferente (peach sorbet topped with prosecco, $11), Kaffirinha (kaffir lime sorbetto, Sagatiba Pura Cachac and prosecco, $16), and Espresso Freddo (Bailey’s gelato, vodka, coffee liqueur and cold-drip espresso, $16).

The experts recommend taking that last one with a scoop of salted caramel gelato, and you don’t need to tell us twice.

There’s also an extensive Napoli-style pizza menu (starting at $17), with everything from Margherita to the prawn-topped Gamberi on offer. The rest of the menu reflects what Salt Meats Cheese is known for – good, honest Italian cuisine.

The new Salt Meats Cheese Gasworks in Brisbane’s Newstead neighbourhood venue is beautiful, too.

“I love that we’re part of a burgeoning hospitality precinct,” Salt Meats Cheese co-founder Stefano di Blasi said in a media release. “It’s a great area with a really buzzy vibe, so I think our offering will suit the neighbourhood perfectly.”
