Salt Bae Has Opened His First Restaurant In The USA

Salt Bae

On January 7, 2017, Turkish chef Nurset Gökçe uploaded a video showing off his steak carving skills to Instagram. The Internet was understandably impressed, but more infatuated by Gökçe’s impossibly extra salt-flipping wrist action.

Millions of views and comments later, Gökçe reached meme status and Salt Bae was born.

Apart from his ability to look good while carving meat, Gökçe is a chef and restaurateur, and he just opened his Turkish steakhouse mini-chain Nusr-et in Miami, Florida.

While it’s not Gökçe’s first opening, it is his first on US soil. He plans to open a New York City location later on in the year, which is hiring, by the way. “Nusr-et Steakhouse NYC is looking for talent burning with desire to flare it up,” reads the venue’s humble Craigslist listing.

Salt Bae’s latest restaurant follows in the footsteps of the rest of the chain, boasting a meat-heavy menu of dishes that intended for sharing. Think marinated sliced beef, racks of lamb, burgers and sausage, all served with choice of sides.
