Rent This Uninhabited Island In Japan For You And 80 Mates

Kujira-Jima Island

If your squad’s idea of a good time is being really, really far away from everyone and everything else, you’re in luck: you can now holiday in total seclusion on this uninhabited island in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan.

To get to Tatebajima island, known to locals as Kujira-Jima or “Whale Island” because of its shape, guests depart from Uno Port in Tamano, Okayama, in groups of between four and 80 people. Once there, the island is yours and yours alone.

With a circumference of just 2km, it takes around 30 minutes to walk around the island, but don’t let its size fool you — there’s loads to see and do. There’s a stunning main beach, a bunch of private, more secluded beaches, as well as stand-up paddleboards and kayaks for you to explore the bay.

The island is kitted out with cooking facilities and, if booked in advance, can host day parties of up to 150 people.
