How Queenslanders Can Score The Latest Travel Vouchers For The Whitsundays And Greater Brisbane

Whitsundays and Brisbane Holiday Dollars Travel Vouchers

Queensland has announced today that they’re giving out a further 36,000 travel vouchers as part of their Holiday Dollars scheme, this time focussing on The Whitsundays and Greater Brisbane regions.

Back in March, the Queensland state government announced it was giving residents the opportunity to plan a local getaway at a discount thanks to its Holiday Dollars initiative. Previously, Queenslanders could head to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef with their vouchers, but this time around The Whitsundays and Greater Brisbane are in the spotlight.

Queensland residents can access either $100 or $200 travel vouchers to the two regions, in an effort to boost tourism to these areas beloved by international tourists and therefore hard-hit due to the pandemic.

Under the Brisbane Holiday Dollars offering, 30,000 $100 vouchers will be available for 50 percent off tourism experiences and accommodation in the Greater Brisbane region. This includes Brisbane, the Scenic Rim, the Moreton Bay islands, Redlands Coast, Somerset, Logan and Ipswich.

For the Whitsundays Holiday Dollars package, 6000 vouchers are available to people who are already staying in the region during a set period from May 4. They’ll get you 50 percent off tours and attractions up to $200 in value.

Greater Brisbane

For those interested in the $100 Brisbane vouchers, registration be open from 12pm (AEST) on Tuesday, April 27 and will close at 11.59am (AEST) on Friday, April 30.

Set an alarm for April 27, when you’ll need to click here to go to the Tourism Queensland site and register your details.

If you’re a lucky bugger, you’ll receive a text message and an email with your voucher to redeem at participating operators. They’re announcing voucher recipients from May 6. You’ll just need to book your Brisbane adventure by 4 June, and travel by 15 August.

Information for applying for the $200 Whitsundays travel vouchers isn’t actually available yet, but will be from May 4 on the Tourism Whitsundays site. Interestingly, Queensland residents over the age of 18 will need to already be in the region to get their hands on one.

“The vouchers will be available to visitors (and locals) who are in the region from 4 May – 30 June 2021, or until the voucher quota is exhausted, whichever is sooner,” says the site. “Vouchers are activated once a booking is made, so it will be first in, best dressed to activate the vouchers for travel.”

Another one to pop an alarm on for. The Whitsundays are bucket list for many Aussies and offer a chance to see the incredible Great Barrier Reef. When you’re there, definitely check out an Indigenous led tour like this one.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk explained in March why there’s no better time to get to FNQ.

“Tourism has taken a hit during the pandemic, and those who depend on international visitors have been doing it particularly tough – especially up north,” she said on social media.

“So if you‘ve ever wanted to visit Tropical North Queensland, now’s the time – Queensland is the place to be.”
