Queensland Will Open Their Borders To New South Wales In November, So Pack Your Bags

Just when you thought you’d never see the day, Queensland has finally announced plans to relax their border restrictions and increase the number of people allowed at one gathering.

Until now, Queensland’s Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been pretty steadfast about keeping other states — namely New South Wales and Victoria — the heck out. Now, after what seems like forever, the border restrictions will be relaxed, at least to NSW.

From November 1, visitors and return travellers to and from NSW will be allowed into the state without needing to complete a 14-day quarantine. You’ll still need to fill out a Queensland Border Declaration Plan, but they’re pretty easy to do.

“There is one proviso – we want people to keep up with their social distancing,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Friday.

Under the newly released plan, people in bars and clubs will be allowed to stand up while drinking (remember that? What a thrill), up to 40 people will be allowed at private gatherings from the same date, and those 40 guests at a wedding will even be allowed to get up and boogie. From December 1, private gatherings will be allowed up to 50 guests.

On a personal level, this is amazing news to meet my best friend’s baby and for my Grandma’s 90th. On a general level, this is the perfect time for a beach holiday. I mean, you could even just grab a bunch of friends and hire a whole island to yourselves.

The news comes after South Australia and Northern Territory both opened up their borders to New South Wales. Keep on keeping on Victoria, I’m sure you won’t be far behind.
