Qantas Points Plane Lets Frequent Flyers Get To Tokyo For Super Cheap
Got your heart set on a Japan getaway? Who among us doesn’t! The fine-flying folks at Qantas have unveiled a new way to get yourself to Tokyo for super cheap – if you’re a Frequent Flyer member.
The Qantas Points Plane is a brand-new service that passengers can book exclusively with their Frequent Flyer points.

An economy seat will cost you 35,000 Qantas points, Premium Economy is bumped up to 54,000 points, Business will set you back 72,000 points and a First-class seat can be yours for 108,000 points.* There’s also a cash component to cover taxes, fees and carrier charges, but they’re far below the normal cost of one of these flights.
Passengers can book onto a return Points Plane on October 26, redeem seats on a regular service flight, or use points plus pay to book a return flight.
As part of the ticket, passengers will also get special inflight exclusives, like a bespoke cocktail and meal service, Qantas signature pyjamas and other giveaways, as well as all the usual inflight entertainment on Qantas planes.
It’s one of the new rewards the airline is exploring for Frequent Flyer members. Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth said that flight redemptions are the most popular way for members to spend their points.
“Four flight redemptions are made every minute and sixty upgrades are confirmed every hour. We know our members love to redeem their points on travel, so we’re excited to be able to give them new ways to access these rewards,” Wirth said in a press release.
“Member-exclusive flights mean more redemption opportunities for our members and less time searching for reward seats.”
If the first Qantas Points Plane voyage is successful, the airline plans to operate more Frequent Flyer-only flights to other destinations.
