PSA: Shanghai Disneyland Is Opening In One Month
All that wishing upon a star has paid off, you guys. Shanghai Disneyland is set to open its Mickey Mouse shaped doors on June 16.
China’s newest theme park is the first Disney park in mainland China, and technically the sixth Disney theme park and resort worldwide after California, Orlando, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong. Thousands of tourists have already been flocking to Disney’s new location in Pudong to catch a glimpse of the yet-to-open flashy new park, which is set to be huge.
The enormous resort will include six themed lands, two themed hotels and a giant shopping, dining and entertainment district known as ‘Disney Town’. The six themed lands include Adventure Isle, Gardens of Imagination, Tomorrowland (hello Space Mountain!), Mickey Avenue, Treasure Cove and Fantasyland.
[related_articles]8193[/related_articles]While some images have surfaced online, the Disney overlords have stayed pretty tight lipped on the specifics of the park. What we do know is, relative to time and place, Shanghai Disney will be the most technologically advanced of all the parks so far.
Footage of the park’s new Pirates Of The Caribbean ride has leaked online in recent days, and it looks, well, freakin’ cool.

News has also surfaced that guests should expect some interesting food items on the menu at the park’s restaurants. Paying respect to a traditional Chinese diet, menu items have all received a decidedly Disney revamp. Almost every item is served in the shape of Mickey’s head, with items like peking duck pizza, Mickey chocolate tart, Mickey pork cake, Donald Duck waffle and scrambled eggs and shrimp.
All up, Shanghai Disney is set to be a pretty remarkable theme park, and thankfully, a whole lot closer to us than the US. Whether you’re going for the rides, the food or just for nostalgia sake, Shanghai Disney is set to be one hell of a spectacle. They don’t call it “the happiest place on earth” for nothing, right?
