Catch ‘Em All At The Pokemon Pop-Up Bar Hitting Cities Around Australia

Much like a fine painting or a marble statue of a naked man, Pokémon is really having a renaissance moment. Pokémon Go is, somehow, still popular, Detective Pikachu is, somehow, getting rave reviews, and now Pokémon trainers can sip cocktails and eat burgers at a Pokémon-inspired pop-up bar hitting Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. I, for one, welcome our new Pokémon overlords.

The PokéBar will be touring through Australia later this year, serving up heavily themed drinks, food and games. You’ll be able to get your hands on a Pokéball-shaped burger, which I think we can all agree is worth the entry fee alone.

There are rumours that the bar will be split into seven regions, each with Pokémon to hunt, battle and catch. Obviously, friendships will be tested as you and your mates compete to determine once and for all who will the best Pokémon trainer there ever was.

No word yet on whether you’ll play through the Pokémon Go app or whether there’ll be real-life pocket monsters to find scattered throughout the bar (the bar venues are still TBC as well), but you can sign up on the PokéBar website to be the first to know and snag tickets when they’re released.

It’s the latest in a long line of themed, boozy events coming to Australia this year. A Game of Thrones banquet is hitting Sydney, Melbourne is getting a Harry Potter brunch and an ’80s-themed roller disco is skating through select cities. We’re spoilt for choice and we love it.
