Perth Airport Has Added Sleep Pods For You To Rest Your Flight-Weary Body

Sleep pods are well and truly a trend now, popping up in airports across the world.  It kind of makes you wonder, when is Australia going to get in on that sweet, comfy action? After all, it’s not uncommon for Aussies to have to have stopovers in other Australian cities to get to international destinations. Well, it turns out our time has finally come, with the first sleep pods in Australia currently being trialled at Perth Airport.

The Perth Airport nap pods are a collaboration between the airport, Smart Carte and Finnish company GoSleep. The eight pods will be located inside Terminal 1 and include a “specially designed sleek chair similar to a business class flatbed”. There will also be USB and power outlets for charging, storage for luggage underneath the bed and a moveable shade for privacy. They look like the perfect place to recharge both your devices and your body before the next leg of your flight.

Perth Airport is the perfect first Aussie destination for sleep pods, which is fortunate, given it’s the setting-off point for direct Qantas flights to London.

“As Australia’s western hub, passengers connect their flights in a variety of ways, many of those with a short stopover,” Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown said in a statement. “These sleeping pods provide them and the broader travelling public with a place to relax in comfort.”

The Perth Airport nap pods can be booked in advance and cost $12 per hour. You can book here.
