Parramasala Is Set To Return To Sydney In A Colourful Explosion Of Cultures

Parramasala, the annual celebration of the multiculturalism of Sydney, is back for another year and the program of events has just been revealed.

Festivalgoers at Parramasala can check out live music, incredible street food, cultural performances, workshops and one heck of an opening street parade over the weekend. The festival is set to run from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 March.

Festival Director Paul Osborne, announced that Parramasala 2019 will be bigger than ever, being “the biggest celebration of Sydney’s vibrant cross-section of cultures yet. From South American to Middle Eastern, Indigenous Australian to South East Asian, and everything in between.”

Parramasala is held in the streets, laneways, parks and theatres across Parramatta. Each year the festival transforms the city of Parramatta, starting with the procession of 500 multicultural performers in the opening street parade.

Musical performers taking the stage for free concerts over the weekend include singer-songwriter Thandi Phoenix, rap duo Remi, Indigenous electric group Electric Fields and Sydneysider CLYPSO. There will be free and ticketed events over the three days, which you can check out at the Parramasala website.
