A ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ Themed Bar Is Hitting Up Melbourne

Quentin Tarantino is back with his 9th film, more Leonardo DiCaprio and 100 percent more Brad Pitt! Once Upon A Time In Hollywood hits the big screen on August 15 and to celebrate, Cinema Nova in Melbourne is opening the “Hollywood Time” Lounge, a themed bar celebrating the summer of love.

To take you back to the summer of ’69, Cinema Nova in Carlton will be digging up their archive of original and reproduced movie posters and hanging them up among artworks inspired by Rick Dalton’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) movies.

There’ll also be a psychedelic mural created by Melbourne street-artist Conrad Bizjak and a video super-cut of pop-culture moments from ’60s TV. And you can watch it all unfold as you sit among vintage decor while a lounge music soundtrack plays.

Bartenders will be mixing the best cocktails from 1969 and serving them with a chef-prepared menu of classic American food. We’re heading straight to the bar and ordering a dirty martini and chilli cheese fries tbh.

There’ll be three other cocktails on offer, including a boozy fruit punch. The Sunset mixes cognac, Cointreau, lemon and orange. And there’s the totes appropes-named Summer of ’69 made with gin, vermouth, ginger ale, mint and berries.

It’s the perfect place to enjoy a pre-movie drink or to head after you’ve seen the movie (and knowing Tarantino movies, you’ll probably want to debrief with a drink afterwards).

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood follows Rick, a fading TV star, and his stunt double Cliff (Brad Pitt) as they meet Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and Charles Manson (Damon Herriman).

Cinema Nova‘s Hollywood Time Lounge will open on August 13.
