Skydiving over Uluru

If there’s one place in the world it’s worth jumping out of a plane, it’s in the Red Centre. Having a bird’s eye view of the Rock is an unmatched experience. Prepare to be wow-ed as you free-fall over Uluru with views of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), Mount Connor and Lake Amadeus from 12,000 feet.

Dives with Skydive Uluru start from $399.

Helicopter flight over Kings Canyon

There is no better way to experience sprawling Kings Canyon than by air. Taking off from the Kings Canyon Resort helipad, tours fly over the domes of the Lost City and down into the Garden of Eden. There are breathtaking views of Kings Canyon and Carmichaels Crag (where Pricilla Queen of the Desert was filmed), while the sandstone domes and geological diversity of the Canyon is especially breathtaking from the air.

Flights start from $149 for 15 minutes.

Croc spotting in Katherine

If there’s one thing you do when you visit Katherine, make it croc-spotting in The Katherine Gorge. As the sun rises over the Gorge, sit back, relax (as much as you can) and play a game of “spot-the-croc”.

On Nitmiluk Tours’ Nit Nit Dreaming cruise, you’ll discover the cultural significance of the gorges and the meaning they have to the traditional landowners, the Jawoyn people.

Tours start from $89.

Hot-air ballooning over the Red Centre

If you’re looking for something with a slower pace but still with a high degree of excitement, jump on a hot air balloon and cruise the skies over the Red Centre with Outback Ballooning. If you’re scared of heights or just want to keep your feet on the ground, you can also go “balloon chasing”, where you’ll watch your friends take to the air while you head out on desert tracks to meet up with the balloon.

To top it all off, you’ll finish with a glass of sparkling wine. Chin chin to that!

Tours start from $295 for adults, while balloon chasing will set you back just $40 per person.
