Inside London’s First Nobu Hotel

Nobu Hotel Shoreditch

With hotels already established in Miami, Malibu, Manila and Las Vegas, the Robert De Niro-backed Nobu Hotel’s arrival in London is a logical step for the luxury chain. The 143-room hotel opened its doors in Shoreditch this month.

The property pairs minimalist Japanese design with a East London’s trendy, modern aesthetic, with crisp, white linens pairs with cool exposed concrete and sleek furnishings. Every suite boasts a freestanding tub and meditative wind chimes for maximum Zen.

Located five minutes from the Shoreditch High Street, Nobu Hotel is surrounded by galleries, markets and boutiques. St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge are a 30-minute walk away, while a Pilates studio, Technogym and treatment rooms are all slated to open at the hotel in September 2017.

There is, of course, an on-site Nobu restaurant with room for 240 guests, along with a sushi counter, lounge and bar areas and an outdoor courtyard. Serving up Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature Japanese fusion cuisine, guests can sample everything from Yellowtail with black cod miso to Hakaido scallops with coriander aioli and Ikura, a dish exclusive to the Shoreditch establishment.

Deluxe rooms start from around $400 (£247) per night, but if that doesn’t factor into your budget, pop in for a meal – it’s world-famous a reason, but it won’t break the bank. Sushi starts from around $6 (£4) a piece, while larger dishes start at around $30 (£20).
