This Newcastle Food Festival Dedicates A Whole Month To Local Culinary Delights
As someone who grew up on the Central Coast, I’ve always had certain pre-conceived notions of Newcastle (sorry). Then there was that time Lonely Planet ranked it in their top 10 places to visit in the world, and I realised I needed to take another look.
Case and point with Newcastle Food Month (NFM), celebrating culinary delights for a full 30 days over April.

Unlike when I was in high school, Newcastle has a blooming foodie scene these days, which this food festival aims to highlight. Cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs in the area are all giving out top notch grub, and over 60 of them are getting involved.
During NFM, you’ll find over 100 food focussed events — from enjoying local specialities with a matching bevvie fir a frankly tiny $25 per person, to the world-famous Parisian style pop up dinner, Le Diner En Blanc (yup, that’ll be a first for Newie).

“Over the next five years our aim is that the Newcastle culinary scene becomes one of our most recognised assets and that the Newcastle Food Festival becomes one of Australia’s leading regional food festivals, drawing diners from around Australia to celebrate with us,” said Event Organiser Louise Maher from Newcastle Events.
“Barely two hour’s drive from the nation’s capital, New South Wales’ second largest city has never been more accessible and has the people, the wine and the produce to support the thriving foodie culture that we’re seeing in Newcastle”.
