New York’s Museum Of Modern Art Is Coming To Australia

Famous works from the likes of Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Vincent van Gogh, Jackson Pollock and more will be coming to Melbourne for an exclusive exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Announced this week, the NGV will soon play host to a major exhibition of modern and contemporary works from New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMa). Set to open in June 2018, this unprecedented exhibition is set to be the biggest and most significant collection of masterworks to ever leave MoMa.

More than 150 works will take up the entire ground floor of the NGV’s St Kilda Road gallery, with works spanning 130 years of modern-art history. Artists on the lineup include Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Jeff Koons, Henri Matisse, Edward Hopper, Piet Mondrian, Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Marcel Duchamp, Lyubov Popova, Mark Rothko, Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso.

Arriving for the NGV’s 2018 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces, the exhibition will include not only paintings and sculpture, but drawings, prints, photography, furniture, graphic design pieces, architecture and more.

MoMa will be bringing along famed works including Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory, Roy Lichtenstein’s Drowning Girl and Marcel Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel.

The NGV is one of the most visited galleries in the country, having just recently hosted the incredible Andy Warhol | Ai Wei Wei exhibition over summer.
