The ‘Nuclear Double Decker Death Wish’ Is Australia’s Hottest Burger

With a name like the “Nuclear Double Decker Death Wish,” you know this burger isn’t here to play games.

To celebrate National Burger Day in late May, the beloved Burger Urge has brought back its most popular burger ever, bigger and hotter than ever. The Nuclear Double Decker Death Wish is Australia’s hottest burger, loaded with a delicious and scary combination of the world’s most feared chillies.

The Carolina reaper, ghost chilli, big yellow mama and chocolate bhutlah (some people consider this bad boy to be even hotter than the Carolina reaper) are all packed on top of a double Angus beef burger with maple bacon, cheese, pickles, jalapeños, tomato, lettuce and covered in the very reasonably named Death Sauce.

The sauce alone measures over 2 million on the Scoville heat scale — which is just, you know, 700 times hotter than your average jalapeño.

If this sounds like something you want to put in your body (why?), you’ll have to sign a safety waiver and put on gloves and goggles before you can begin eating.

Burger Urge head chef Joel Chrystal issued a warning for diners. “Last time, for our milder burger, we had three ambulances called to stores for chilli-induced panic attacks, so [the Nuclear Double Decker Death Wish is] legitimately the hottest burger you can legally be served in Australia.”

Customers can also choose a chicken version named the Lady Macdeath, and there are even vegetarian and vegan options available. The Nuclear Double Decker Death Wish leaves no one behind.

Australia’s hottest burger is available at all 26 Burger Urge restaurants across New South Wales and Queensland from now until the end of June.
