As the number of re-open Melbourne restaurants continues to grow, it’s about time we treated ourselves to a sit-down meal and a schooner.

On June 1, coronavirus restrictions in Victoria eased. Under the new restrictions, up to 20 people can dine-in as long as they maintain proper social distancing. And while you still can’t go to the pub for a drink, you can order alcohol with your meal.

In celebration of this, and because we all miss spending a cosy evening in our favourite restaurants, we’ve rounded up some of the best Melbourne restaurants that are back for a good meal and a drink.

The modern Asian-fusion, neon-heavy restaurant will re-open on June 5 every Monday to Saturday. The lunch menu will feature the signature ramen alongside a collection of favourites, while dinner will be a $65 set banquet menu.

From June 1–22, Chin Chin is open daily for lunch and dinner. Downstairs, GoGo Bar is also open from 11am seven days a week. Plenty of time to grab a cocktail, a wine and some truly excellent Thai food.

Melbourne’s excellent vegan bar and restaurant will re-open on June 16 but you can already make a booking to snag a table ASAP. The lunch a la carte menu will still be served, but dinner will be an $80 set menu.

Even if you’re an actual masterchef, chances are your home cooking isn’t quite as fine as the fare at Matilda. One of the best  restaurants in Melbourne is back serving its oysters, hand-rolled gnocchi and apple tarte tatin for dessert.

Some of the best burgers in Melbourne can be found in the renovated train-carriages of Easey’s. The team here have also opened up the dining areas in the rooftop yards and the main restaurant and bar, meaning a total of 64 people can dine-in at once.
