Lin-Manuel Miranda Giving A Young Fan A Shoutout On Live TV Is The Wholesome 2020 Content We Need

Lin-Manuel Miranda on 7.30

They say you should never meet your idols, but what about when your idol gives you a shout out on live TV? Then you have full permission to freak out, which is exactly what ten-year-old Samson did when Lin-Manuel Miranda appeared on 7.30.

Our Broadway daddy Miranda appeared on the ABC last night to talk about Hamilton being released on Disney+ on July 3 (which you can read all about here) and the impact that COVID-19 has had on musical theatre.

But it was a behind-the-scenes video that host Leigh Sales shared on Twitter after the show that really captured the internet’s attention.

See, towards the end of the interview Sales showed Miranda a photo of her friend’s son, Samson, the moment he found out that his friend was going to be talking to his hero.

There’s no other way to put it: Samson was ecstatic. Samson is me when I remember I bought chocolate three days ago and devour it in one night.

Sales then shared a video of the moment Samson watched the segment, and oof, it’s wholesome as hell.

“It must be so amazing to know that you’ve created something that gives people that kind of joy,” Sales said.

“Well I remember being Samson, of course,” Miranda replied, and you can actually pinpoint the second when Samson’s heart almost bursts with excitement.

The internet, desperate for some cute news, reacted accordingly:

Oh, to be Samson hearing his idol say he used to be just like him on national TV.

Miranda even went one further and gave Samson a personal shout out on Twitter.

Friendly reminder that the Hamilton film is being fast tracked and will be available to stream on Disney+ on July 3. Lin-Manuel Miranda just keeps bringing the good news we need.
