The Holey Moley Team Is Opening A ‘70s-Themed Karaoke Bar

I don’t know what we did to deserve the people at Funlab, but they’ve decided we’re worthy of yet another novelty themed bar. First Holey Moley mini-golf, then Archie Brothers Cirque Electric and B. Lucky & Sons arcade bars, and now Juke’s Karaoke Bar — a ’70s-themed karaoke bar opening in Melbourne.

Of all the retro decades we’re bringing back, the ’70s has been pretty overlooked so far and we demand flared pants, big hair and ABBA bangers. That’s exactly what you’ll get at Juke’s Karaoke Bar when it opens inside Melbourne’s Crown Complex on June 21.

Like every venture from Funlab, Juke’s will have a bar serving up themed cocktails and snacks, and everything will recreate the food and drink we’ve seen in our grandparent’s weird, vintage cookbooks.

Cheese fondue, pineapple porcupines and prawn cocktails can be washed down with fruity cocktails served with lolly bracelets and punch served from hollowed-out disco balls.

The private karaoke rooms can fit groups of up to 25 people, so gather up all your songbird friends (even the one who only sings after a bit of liquid courage and get them a cocktail on arrival) to belt out some bangers.

In case you’re stuck for inspo, here are just some of the amazing songs from the ’70s that you could slay: “Bohemian Rhapsody” with the whole group. “My Sharona” and Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” are classics for a reason. Test your falsetto with “Stayin’ Alive” and pick from an almost endless catalogue of ABBA songs.

No word yet on whether Juke’s Karaoke Bar will come to the rest of Australia, but fun-lovers in Sydney can still enjoy a night out knocking golf balls through the Simpsons’ living room, win prizes at the arcade or drink some candy-inspired cocktails at the other Funlab ventures.
