We’ve Found Iceland’s Most Mind-Blowing Airbnb

A house befitting the nature that surrounds it.

In lieu of actually moving there, a vast majority of us are pretty happy spending most of our days daydreaming about the magical isle that is Iceland. Now, that daydreaming has reached new highs.

Just look at this ridiculously awesome Airbnb rental that’s up for grabs in northern Iceland.

My word.

The listing is fittingly titled “Amazing view” and features an architectural wonder planted in what’s got to be the prettiest stretch of land we ever did see.

It’s located in a private residence area of Vaðlaheiði near Akureyri, the capital of north Iceland, and offers guests primo access to some of the country’s best landscapes. With a view over the bay and of Akureyri, winter stays will be spent watching the Northern Lights, while summertime guests will enjoy the unusual phenomenon of a midnight sun.

The apartment features two bedrooms and one bathroom, accommodating up to four people. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen as well as a living area fitted with a sofa, TV and dining table. And let’s not forget about that outdoor deck…

Only 10 minutes away from Akureyri’s city centre, there’s hiking tours, horse riding, swimming spots, kayak hire, golf and walks along the fjord all within your vicinity. In winter you can go dog sledding, snow shoe walking or even visit the local ski resort that just so happens to have an amazing view of the fjord.

Further afield you can drive to the western shore of the Eyjafjordur Fjord, visit the magnificent waterfalls, Goðafoss and Dettifoss, the Grand Canyon of Jökulsárgljúfur and go whale watching in Húsavík. That’s your bucket list sorted, hey?

Akureyri is easy to get to from Reykjavik too: you can opt for a 45 minute flight or try your hand at navigating Iceland’s famed Ring Road, where you’ll reach your destination in five or six hours (depending on how many times you stop to take it all in.)

Safe to say it’s worth planning your whole trip around this one.
