Is This The Coolest Bar In London?

When you enter Sketch in London suburb Mayfair, it’s like you’re walking into a giant art installation. Incredibly over the top in its approach but sincere in its execution, Sketch is one of the coolest spots in town.

Conceived by French culinary master Pierre Gagnaire and restauranteur Mourad Mazouz, Sketch blends the best of modern culinary delights with surreal avant-garde design. With a tea room, lounge bar and two restaurants housed within its two-storey 18th century facade, Sketch is anything but your average drinking hole.

Settle in for some afternoon tea at The Gallery, an art-themed restaurant. Celebrated British artist David Shrigley’s work adorns the walls with over 239 new works presented against a baby-pink and chrome setting.

Then head on over to The Glade for evening cocktails in the découpage forest created by artists Carolyn Quartermaine and Didier Mahieu. You’re instantly transported to a magical woodland bar that looks like something straight out of a fairytale.

Then when you’ve had enough of the cutesy fun, make your way to The Parlour for a delicious dinner, which is fitted out with a variety of Louis XV inspired seating and a classy red decor. The Parlour turns into a cocktail bar from 6pm-2am and it’s members only from 9pm, so make sure you befriend the folk who look the fanciest who can hopefully be your ticket in.

But some say the absolute best part of Sketch is the bathrooms, containing individual egg-shaped pods that speak to you when you’re inside of them.

Sketch is the ideal spot to schmooze away with London’s elite. Sure, the price tags reflect this, but the experience is something you won’t forget anytime soon.
