Is This The Best Beach In The World?
The annual Travellers’ Choice Beaches Awards were announced this week based on reviews gathered from the world’s largest travel review website Trip Advisor. The Baia do Sancho beach in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil took out the number one spot, as surveyed by site users. The idyllic strip is largely untouched, and sits on an island to the northeast of the Brazilian mainland.
The Trip Advisor survey takes both quality and quantity of the reviews into account. From the top ten, only one of the beaches is in Australia – the Whitsunday’s famous Whitehaven Beach, which also takes out the spot for the best beach in Australia.
The rest of the global top ten is made up from various locations around the globe like Cuba, Spain and the Philippines. The Australian top ten features six beaches in Queensland, three in Western Australia and one in New South Wales.
