Is This Australia’s Most Instagrammable Hotel?
Surfer’s Paradise and Byron Bay get plenty of attention and a tonne of visitors each summer, but the hidden gems between these two destinations rarely do. If you’re looking for a spot to soak up the rays this summer without the tourist glut, try Cabarita.
This diamond destination hugs a huge headland and juts into the ocean with amazing beaches reaching out in both directions. A prime location like this deserves an equally as stunning place to stay.
Enter Halcyon House, arguably Australia’s most Instagrammable hotel, just a 15-minute drive south of Gold Coast airport.
Halcyon House is a boutique hotel with humble beginnings as a former surf motel. Now, the property boasts 21 individually designed rooms right beside Carbarita Beach.
While the place is decidedly modern and European in its design, there’s still a low key Australian feel about it all. Interiors are eclectic and colourful and feature beachside paraphernalia you’d find at almost any seaside family beach house.
Halcyon House is also home to the award winning (and pool-side!) restaurant Paper Daisy. Helmed by Ben Devlin (who spent time working at Copenhagen’s famed Noma restaurant), Paper Daisy serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner with flair, flavour and an incredible view to boot.
Prices start at $550 per night for a King suite, all the way to $1400 a night for a two-bedroom suite. There’s no doubt about it – Cabarita and Halcyon House are one of Australia’s best hidden secrets.
