The Most Beautiful Bubble Tea Joint You’ve Ever Seen Has Just Opened In Melbourne

If you ask anyone in any office I’ve ever worked, they’ll confirm that I have a bit of a bubble tea addiction. I literally have one in front of me right now and one unopened in my fridge for later (because it’s WFH and I don’t live close to any of them, so I have to buy in bulk now, duh).

As much as I love it, I think we can all agree it’s not a “pretty” drink. Not that any of the packaging out there is ugly, you just wouldn’t look twice at it. That all changes, though, now that Malaysian chain Instea has opened in Melbourne.

These are hands down the most beautiful bubble teas, so prepare to annoy your casual Instagram acquaintances with more food porn photos they never asked for.

You’ll find all your bubble tea favourites on the menu — from milk tea, to fruity options, to matcha, to classic plain black or green tea — as well as some rather odd sounding signature flavours, like Cheese Latte, mango coffee and Ovaltine cocoa. Actually that last one sounds like my primary school dream.

Now the real kicker here, is that for people like me who like to buy. few extra and store them in the fridge for later, Instea offer a take-home option in a beautiful glass bottle that is absolutely a hipster’s delight — and yes ok, mine too.

Needless to say, I’m extremely into this and need to visit ASAP. If their Instagram stories are anything to go by, opening week at their 210 Swanston Street location saw some damn long (socially distanced, mask-wearing) lines, so I’m clearly not the only one.

Right now you’ll need to pick up your bubble tea in store, but apparently they’re planning to have delivery set up around the CBD by the end of September, and to the suburbs before the end of 2021.
