Instagramming Bondi Beach Is About To Become A Whole Lot Easier

When you think Australian beaches, admit it, you think Bondi.

The wide strip of sand and its surrounding suburb virtually scream ‘Strayan summer; the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk is a stroll through the Aussie idyll, the cafes lining the strip are a mecca of clean eating, and the actual beach, while crowded, is as nice as the overlooking houses are expensive. All this, wrapped up in a panoramic package so appealing that it’s impossible to leave without uploading at least one visual postcard to Instagram.

Well, that ‘Gram post is about to get a whole lot easier with the introduction of free public Wi-Fi in Bondi this summer. The local council is working with Australian guest Wi-Fi company Skyfii to bring fast, free internet to Sydney’s ‘Golden Mile’ – Bondi, Tamarama and Bronte Beaches. With the area attracting in 2.2 million tourists per year – on top of the 10,000 permanent residents – we reckon the #bondibeach hashtag will be going pretty bonkers as the weather warms up.

Heaps of global cities, including Barcelona, Hong Kong and New York, already offer services that provide free public Wi-Fi, especially around popular spots for tourists. Like in these overseas cities, if you agree to connect, Skyfii will collect data and analytics to share with the local council to track things like visitor numbers and peak swimming times, as well as to promote local businesses with ads and special offers.
