Iceland Is Putting On A Music Festival At The Base Of This Idyllic Waterfall

Iceland is well known for its stunning natural beauty, from volcanos and natural hot springs to its ample Northern Lights vantage points. It’s also home to beautiful waterfalls, and this year, a new music festival is being hosted at the bottom of one.

The waterfall is known as Skógafoss in the south of Iceland, two hours from Reykjavik. It’s been used as a backdrop in films including Thor: The Dark World, and The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, and come July 14, 2017, it’ll be home to the Night + Day Festival, curated by UK band The xx.

We are beyond excited to bring Night + Day to Iceland this July for a special intimate weekend of music beside the Skógafoss waterfall! We fell in love with Iceland while recording some of ‘I See You’ there a few years ago and we are so looking forward to returning and bringing some of our friends, from near and far. We hope to see you there! xx The xx ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Information regarding ticketing and travel packages for Iceland can be found at in our bio. Held at the base of the breathtaking 15-metre wide, 60-metre high waterfall, the festival takes place from July 14-16. The line-up includes some of the world’s best-known acts across electronic, indie and hip-hop, including Warpaint, Earl Sweatshirt, saxophonist Kamasi Washington and Australia’s own Jagwar Ma, on top of a headline performance from The xx, and a solo set from Jamie xx. Not only does the waterfall and its surrounding cliff faces provide a stunning backdrop for the event, but the distant sound of rushing water provides the festival with a perfect natural, ambient soundtrack, all day long.
