There’s never a bad time to rewatch Harry Potter, but Dendy Cinemas’ two-day marathon might be the best time.

All eight movies are going to be screened back to back on the big screen this December 7 and 8. Kicking off with Philosopher’s Stone and culminating in the epic showdown of Deathly Hallows — Part 2, this magical marathon clocks in at over 19 hours of cinematic perfection.

But unlike similar movie marathons that run through the night, you’ll actually get to go home and sleep in between screenings. Four films will be shown each day, starting at 12pm on Saturday and 12:30pm on the Sunday.

You’ll still be in for a long binge though — the final movie on Saturday will begin at 8:30pm, and 8:20pm on the Sunday. But what else would you prefer to spend eight hours doing on a Saturday?

There’ll be a two-minute break between movies (just enough time to accio more popcorn) and ads will only run before the very first session of the day to maximise your time with Harry, Hermione and Ron.

There’s a bit of a catch: the Harry Potter marathon is only running at the Dendy in Canberra and Coorparoo. So happy for you guys. No word yet if the marathon will make it’s way to the other cinemas in the Dendy network, but a muggle can hope.

If you can’t make it to either cinema, there’s still a bunch of amazing Harry Potter stuff going on around Australia. Melbourne is still the only place in Australia we can see Cursed Child, and a real-life wizarding tournament is touring the country in 2020.

And while it’s not an official event, the Wizard’s Cauldron pop-up event is about as close as we’ll ever get to attending a real-life potions class (with a working wand, too!).
