Guy Sebastian Is Representing Australia At Eurovision 2015

For the first time in the contest’s history, Australia is set to compete in Eurovision, with Australian Idol alumni Guy Sebastian representing our home girt by sea.

Guy Sebastian has released eight top ten albums in his career, including two number ones. He has yet to decide which song he’ll be performing. “There’s no real boundaries, that’s what I love,” he said at a press conference broadcast on SBS this morning.

2015 is the 60th year of Eurovision and the first one where Australia can compete, debuting as a “wild card” guest entry, and it’s a pretty wild card indeed given that we’re about as physically far away from Europe as a country can be. But here we are.

It’s not the first time an Australian will take to the Eurovision stage. Olivia Newtown John oddly represented the UK in 1974 and Jessica Mauboy from Darwin performed during interval at the show last year.

The competition will take place in Vienna, Austria and will consist of two semi-finals which will take place on May 19 and 21, and a final on May 23, 2015.

It’s not too late to go, head to Europe with Qantas.
